British Pub closures 1980-2010

For those statisticians amongst us here are pub closures from 1980 to 2010 supplied by the British Beer and Pub Association.  There seems to be a sudden increase in closures from 2007-2010.

    It is clear from the figures that the Smoking Ban has been a major factor in the number of pub closures.

    From these graphs it is quite clear to me that these pub closures are nothing to do with the smoking ban but all to do with changes in cultural mores and cheap supermarket beer, oops my nose has just grown another inch!
