With the British Medical Association thinking of a number for cigarette smoke in a car I then went onto the BBC News Channel to debate about the safety of smoking and driving. Thanks heavens there are no pictures but the audio is available.

I wonder how long it will take for the BMA to conclude that smokers must be protected from the SHS of the cigarettes they are smoking in their cars????

  2. Junican says:

Had a problem getting to the recording, but got there in the end. I have heard it before. For me, the weird thing was the comments of the advanced driving instructor. As soon as a reality check was introduced (listening to music), he resorted to abject waffle. I mean, how dare one look in one’s rear-view mirror, when one must concentrate one’s attention solely on the road ahead just in case someone appears from nowhere in front of one’s car? Reminds me of a comment from ‘Brake’ on the same subject. Whoever, from ‘Brake’ claimed that smokers in cars peer through the windscreen through “a fog of smoke”. A figment of the imagination of someone who neither drives nor smokes, of course – as is all the stuff about SHS harm.

  3. Jay says:

@Gary – I can’t remember where I read it, but I think that someone already has suggested that SHS is more dangerous to smokers than smoking itself!
